Wobert Wednesday – Friday Edition

Hellllllllllooooooo Otterites!

I see the rest of the Brotherhood has yet to restart their posting. Not that I’ve kept to my weekly Wednesday schedule either. BUT, here I am with a second post this month, before they’ve gotten off their… rear ends.

Presuming you listen to the show (You DO listen, don’t you?), you know there’s been a lot going on in our lives.

The Imperator is always dealing with medical issues. That’s his full time occupation. The Imperatrix’s full time occupation is keeping the Imperator alive. She’s not paid nearly enough.

Cajun has his own medical issues, though not as severe as the Imperator. Francis is getting a hip replaced. Yes. Francis is old. I mean… like really old. He’s in the decade where one can collect Social Security. A few years from there, but the same decade.

Br. Andre is pondering career moves we cannot speak of yet and trying to get the insurance company to not be an ass about Mrs. Br. Andre’s own impending surgery.

Martin finally finished his novel and has passed it off to the rest of the Brotherhood for review before he dives back in to edit and polish before submitting to publishers. He’s also about to retire. Though younger than Francis, he’s got enough time in at his job he can take early retirement. Any gun stores in the Louisville area that need some help? He’s not cut out to be a greeter at Walmart.

Finally, there’s me. We’ve had some tragic events in the family. The death of my daughter’s best friend at the hands of police in a tragically effed-up manner that I’m certain no one will be properly punished for. That’s how we roll in the Ville. Unfortunately. Then there’s the funeral I’m about to attend this morning. The wife of Mrs. Robert’s cousin passed this week. Two months younger than Mrs. Robert, so practically a kid still.

Beyond the tragedies, life here at Studio R goes well. It’s an up and down world we live in. You’re buffeted by the winds of change in a roller coaster of emotions and events. The spawn Mrs. Robert and I have produced continue to outpace us. My eldest will join the middle child in surpassing my income this year. Something I am both proud of and despair over at the same time. The youngest continues his studies at Bellarmine University and finally got his driver’s license recently.

On the writing front, work on my novel continues. I’m on draft #6 officially, doing the heavy editing to cut, clean and polish. Still making a few story changes here and there, but I still hope to finish work on it by the end of July. August at the latest.

Finally, we adopted a rescue dog last July that was abused horribly at her original home. She’s a Puggle (pug/beagle mix), her name is Brynn. See the picture at the top.

She was actually being tased by someone when police showed to investigate the situation. She’s skittish as hell, but adorable too. She’s a little princess and spoiled rotten. Given what she had to endure before us, she deserves it.

That’s all the updates for now, readers and listeners. Send us an email. Post some reviews on any of the major podcast platforms. We’d love to hear from you.
